When purchasing a clutch, you need to know the type of engine installed, since the pressure and driven disks may differ for different engines.
If the old clutch is reused, the marks made during removal should be followed. The new clutch can be installed in any position, since it has not yet been used.
When installing the slave disk, please pay attention to the instructions given above.
When installing the clutch, the pressure plate must be correctly positioned on the flywheel, and the three mounting pins must fit into the holes in the pressure plate. Never try to pull the pressure plate into position by tightening the bolts. This will damage the pins and/or holes.
A centering rod is used to check the driven disk. This rod must fit into the teeth of the driven disk and has a journal that fits into the crankshaft guide. You can also use the old primary shaft of the gearbox for this purpose. A special device from Audi is used to hold the flywheel from turning.
Tighten the clutch bolts evenly in a crisscross pattern to a torque of 25 Nm, while holding the flywheel from turning by the teeth.
Install the engine or gearbox and finally check the operation of the clutch.
