Replacing the release bearing

A ball bearing is used as a release bearing. The picture shows a gearbox with a clutch release mechanism inside the gearbox. Do not clean the bearing with solvents that dissolve the lubricant if it is to be reused. When replacing, proceed in the following sequence:

Remove the gearbox.

Press the release bearing clamps away from the bearing and pull the bearing off.

If the clutch release lever (1) needs to be removed, it must be pressed off the ball-head bolt with a screwdriver.

Lubricate all support and moving surfaces of the release bearing (2) with graphite grease.

Insert the release bearing into the clutch release lever and secure with a new seal (3).

Insert the release bearing into the clutch release lever and secure with a new seal (3).

Install the gearbox.

Check the clutch after installing the gearbox. In this case, first of all, pay attention to the "scratching" noise when engaging individual gears. The noise can be heard, first of all, when engaging reverse gear.
