Checking and adjusting the maximum number of revolutions (Audi 100 C4)

To regulate the maximum speed, use a tachometer designed for diesel engines, which uses the photocell principle.



On the front flange of the crankshaft belt pulley, make a white mark with chalk 1-2 cm wide.

Warm up the engine to operating temperature (oil temperature should be 5-70°C).

Do not pull the starter cable to help start a cold engine.

Electrical consumers must be switched off (radio, light).

Give full throttle and determine the number of revolutions using a tachometer.

Set the speed using the adjusting screw to 4800±10 rpm.
