  • Checking the oil level in the main gear of the automatic transmission
            0
The final drive of the automatic transmission requires a different grade of oil than the manual transmission. It must be a CE 75 W-90 synthetic transmission oil, which has the specification G 052145 A1 (0.5 l) and G 052145 A2 (1.0 l) in an Audi workshop. An oil change is not provided, but the oil level must be checked if the final drive housing is soiled with oil on the outside or the ATF level in the automatic transmission has risen or fallen without any signs of external leakage. In this case, an "exchange" of lubricants between the planetary gear and the final drive may have taken place, as described in the previous section. The oil level is checked according to the scheme described in the previous section. The oil level is checked as described in the section "Checking the oil level in the manual transmission". Filling volumes: from 0.7 to 1.0 l (depending on the model). Remember: in all-wheel drive models, the automatic transmission has two final drives and therefore also two control screws.

Both arrows show the oil check screws for the final drives for the front and rear wheels on the automatic transmission of the all-wheel drive Audi 100. The rear check screw for the rear wheel drive final drive should not be confused with the rear final drive, which has its own check screw and threaded bleed plugs.

ATF Replacement

Under normal use, the maintenance plan calls for an ATF change every 60,000 km. At the same time, the old fluid is sucked out, and at the same time, cleaning the oil pan and the oil strainer is a job for an Audi workshop.
