Work to remove the clutch is carried out from underneath the vehicle after removing the gearbox.
Removal
Disconnect the wire from the negative terminal of the battery.
Remove the gearbox.
Lock the flywheel with the locking device.
Loosen the bolts securing the clutch housing to the flywheel one by one
Remove the clutch housing together with the pressure plate. This releases the driven clutch plate.
Installation
Thoroughly clean the clutch components and visually inspect the condition of the rivets and the fastening of the springs of the torsional vibration damper of the driven disk. Check the condition and runout of the working surface of the friction linings. Check the condition of the mating plane of the driven disk on the flywheel. Check the thickness of the driven disk and friction linings. Check the flatness of the working surface of the pressure plate. Check the condition of the bearing of the primary shaft of the gearbox at the end of the crankshaft.
Replace faulty parts.
Install the driven disk with the protruding part of the hub towards the pressure plate and center the driven disk using the VW 10.213 drift (see picture).

Install the clutch cover and tighten the flywheel mounting bolts.
Installing and centering the clutch slave disk using the VW 10.213 mandrel
Tighten the clutch housing to flywheel bolts one by one to a torque of 2.5 kgf·m.
Remove the flywheel retainer.
Lubricate the splines of the transmission input shaft with a thin layer of grease.
Install the gearbox.
Connect the wire to the negative terminal of the battery.
Adjust the clutch release drive.
