Idle speed
1. Before performing this procedure, the engine must be warmed up to normal temperature and all electrical consumers must be switched off. Apply the handbrake and set the gearshift lever to neutral. Check that the cold start handle is pushed back to its original position.
2. Start the engine and let it idle.
3. Using a diesel tachometer, check the idle speed and compare it with the data in Specifications.
4. If adjustment is required, loosen the lock nut and turn the idle speed adjustment screw, then retighten the lock nut.
5. Turn off the engine.
Maximum engine speed
6. Start the engine and, with the handbrake applied and the gearshift lever in neutral, ask an assistant to fully depress the accelerator pedal.
7. Using a diesel tachometer, check the maximum engine speed and compare it with the data in Specifications.
Warning: Do not allow the engine to run at full throttle for more than two to three seconds.
8. If necessary, adjust the maximum engine speed by loosening the lock nut and turning the adjusting screw.
9. Finally, tighten the lock nut.
