2. Remove the front wheels and both front wheel arch liners (see Chapter 10).

3. Remove the front and rear sound insulation panels under the engine compartment (see Section 19 of Chapter 1).

4. Remove the soundproofing panel bracket (see illustration 4.37 Chapter 2).

5. If present, remove the right front final drive heat shield (see illustration).

3.5. Fastening the right heat shield on the front main gear.

3.5. Fastening the right heat shield on the front main gear.

Remove the front propeller shaft (see Section 6) and remove the drive shaft fasteners on the front final drive (see Section 8).

6. Disconnect the connector on the steering gear (see illustration 4.42 Chapter 2).

7. Remove the heat shield (And in illustration 4.43 of Chapter 2) steering gear, set the front wheels to the straight-ahead position, unscrew the hinge bolt (B) and remove the hinge from the steering gear.

8. Move the coolant hoses to the side (see illustration 15.30 Chapter 2).

9. Remove the seals (1 in illustration 36.9 Chapter 2) hood on both sides.

10. On 4.2L engines, loosen the bolt (1 in illustration 36.15 Chapter 2) and unscrew the bolt (2) with the nut. Remove the rear right coolant pipe from the rear right engine lifting eye.

11. Install lifting devices as shown in illustrations 26.8 Chapter 2 (for 3.0 L engines) or in the illustration (for 4.2 L engines).

3.11. Lifting devices on a 4.2 l engine.

3.11. Lifting devices on a 4.2 l engine.

By rotating the lifting device spindles evenly, partially remove the weight of the engine.

12. On 4.2L engines, pinch the return valve (1 in the illustration) and suction (2) hoses at the receiver with clamps No. 3094.

3.12. Pinched hoses at the receiver (4.2 L engine).

3.12. Pinched hoses at the receiver (4.2 L engine).

Remove the hollow bolt (1 in illustration 41.9 Chapter 2) and disconnect the power steering fluid line from the power steering pump. Plug the exposed holes.

13. On 3.0L engines, pinch the power steering fluid hose (1 in illustration 15.5 Chapter 2), unscrew the bolts (2) and disconnect the power steering fluid lines from the pump. Seal any open holes.

14. Support the subframe with a transmission jack (see illustration 13.8 Chapter 2), fix the position of the subframe with the T10300 locking pins (see Chapter 9) and unscrew the bolts (2 and 4 in Illustration 4.51 of Chapter 2) in a diagonal order in several approaches.

15. Lower the subframe with the front final drive on the jack to a distance (and in the illustration) 200 mm.

3.15. Dimension for lowering the subframe.

3.15. Dimension for lowering the subframe.

16. Remove the bolts (6, 7 and 9 in Illustration 3.1) fastening the front main gear to the subframe. Lift the left drive shaft. with the help of an assistant, lift the front final drive off the supports and at the same time remove the right drive shaft from the flange shaft. Raise the front final drive above the steering gear and move it rearward.

17. Installation is carried out in reverse order. Initially tighten the subframe mounting bolts only to the specified torque. They should be pulled to the specified angle only after adjusting the front wheel alignment angles.
