1. The front drive shaft assembly parts are shown in the illustration.

6 - Outer CV joint, replaceable only as an assembly; to install, push it onto the shaft until it stops using a mallet; lubricate the splines before assembly;
7 - Bolt, subject to replacement: M10 - 50 Nm, then tighten to an angle of 90°, and M12 - 90 Nm, then tighten to an angle of 90°;
8 - Locking plate;
9 - Inner CV joint boot;
10 - Large clamp, subject to replacement;

12 - Inner CV joint, replaces only as an assembly; before installation, remove the outer CV joint; lubricate the splines before assembly;

Loosening and tightening the hub nut
2. Place the vehicle on a lift and, without lifting it, remove the wheel trim or hub cap (see Introduction).
2. With the vehicle standing on its wheels, loosen the hub nut (see illustration) only 90°. Turning it at a greater angle may damage the wheel bearing.
3. Remove the wheel and screw all the wheel bolts back in by hand.
4. Ask an assistant to depress the brake pedal and completely loosen the hub nut. If the hub nuts are loose or unscrewed, do not lower the vehicle onto its wheels, as this will damage or reduce the service life of the hub bearings. If the vehicle needs to be rolled with the drive shafts removed, reinstall the outer CV joint and tighten the hub nut to 150 Nm. This completes the hub bolt removal procedure.
5. After removal, use a new hub nut. When tightening it, adhere to the following sequence: with the suspension unloaded, ask an assistant to press the brake pedal and tighten the hub nut with a force of 150 Nm, then lower the car onto the wheels and tighten the hub nut to a force of 500 Nm.

6. Loosen the hub nut (see subsection above).
7. Disconnect the drive shaft from the final drive (3 in the illustration) and unscrew the bolt (2).

Disconnect both brackets with the ABS sensor and brake pad wear sensor wiring from the steering knuckle. Remove the brake caliper and secure it to the body so that the brake hose is not stressed.
8. Loosen the tie rod end nut and press it out of the steering knuckle (see illustration).

9. Loosen the upper control arm nut and press it out of the steering knuckle (see illustration).

10. Press out the drive shaft as shown in the illustration.

When doing this, make sure there is sufficient clearance for the hinges.
11. Rotate the wheel hub so that the hole in it is in the 12 o'clock position. Secure the T10149 support to the hub with a wheel bolt and support the steering knuckle with a transmission jack (see illustration).

12. Unscrew the bolt (1 in the illustration) fastening the suspension strut to the lower suspension arm.

13. Lower the steering knuckle (1 in the illustration) and tilt it outward enough to allow the drive shaft (2) to be pulled out.

14. Before installation, lubricate the drive shaft splines. Insert the outer CV joint into the hub splines as far as possible, then pull the shaft in until it stops (see illustration).

Further installation is carried out in reverse order.

15. Remove both clamps of the outer CV joint boot, pull the boot off the CV joint and separate the CV joint from the shaft by hitting it with a mallet (see illustration).

16. Before installation, lightly lubricate the drive shaft splines and install a new snap ring into the shaft groove. Move the CV joint up to the retaining ring, position the ring with the cut facing up and hammer the CV joint onto the shaft until it locks into place on the ring.

Removal and installation the inner CV joint
17. Remove both inner CV joint boot clamps, pull the boot off the CV joint and remove the inner CV joint cover (see illustration).

18. Press the inner CV joint out of the drive shaft as shown in the illustration.

Hold the shaft while doing this. Disassembling the CV joint is not provided.
19. Before installing the inner CV joint, remove the outer CV joint (see subsection above). Press the inner CV joint onto the shaft as shown in the illustration.

Install a new snap ring and a new inner CV joint cover onto the drive shaft.
