Removal and installation gear wheels (Audi 100 C4)

The toothed wheels of the belts are fixed with keys on the corresponding shafts. Each sprocket is fixed with a bolt. To remove any or all of them, you must first remove the toothed belt covers and the toothed belt.

Disconnect the wire from the negative battery terminal.

Remove the center sprocket mounting block.

Pull the sprocket off the shaft.

If the sprocket does not come off the shaft, use a puller or lightly tap it with a plastic hammer.

Remove the sprocket, being careful not to lose the key.

Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.

Caution: Always check the valve timing after removing the drive sprockets.
