Get behind the wheel and check one by one:
Does the clock work (digital or pointer)?
Turn on the ignition. The battery charge indicator, ABS indicator should flash (for a short time), airbag indicator (goes out after approx. 10 s) and parking brake indicator when the hand brake is applied.
Model not equipped with an auto-test system: in the luminous field at the top between the round instruments, the coolant temperature indicator and the brake light indicator, oil pressure indicator should flash.
In a car equipped with an auto-check system, in a luminous field between round instruments, when the ignition is switched on, the inscription appears «Bremslicht» (braking distances). After a short press on the brake pedal, the icon should appear «OK» (order).
With a slight delay, the arrows of the indicators of the amount of gasoline and the temperature of the coolant move along the scales (only when the engine is warm).
Activate Direction Indicators: Depending on the direction selected, one of the green indicators for the direction indicators should flash rhythmically. Press the hazard warning light switch: both turn signal indicators and hazard warning light indicator flash (located in the switch).
Pull the turn signal lever towards the steering wheel: the high beam indicator should flash.
Start the engine - does the pressure gauge work?
During a test drive, check the speedometer and coolant temperature gauge.
Removing the instrument panel
Remove steering wheel.
Remove the upper part of the casing of the block with lever switches behind the steering wheel. To do this, unscrew the two cross-head screws on the right and left in the lower part of the casing from below and remove the upper part.
Loosen the three Phillips screws at the bottom of the instrument cluster.
Remove the panel on the left and pull it out of the plug connection on the right side of the panel.
Loosen the three Phillips screws at the bottom of the instrument panel.
Carefully pull the shield out of the dashboard.
After removing the mount (pry up the plastic clips or open the fasteners) Carefully disconnect the multi-pin plug.
Remove the panel under the instrument panel after unscrewing the two screws (arrow) and disconnect the plug connection on the rear right side.
The combination instrument panel is removed by removing the three Phillips screws at the bottom with the panel removed.
