- Does the clock work on the combined instrument panel?
- When the ignition is turned on, the battery warning light and the low oil pressure warning light should come on. In addition, the coolant, catalytic converter, airbag, brake and handbrake temperature warning lights should come on (with lever pulled). The control lamps of the following systems should also be lit: anti-theft device, anti-lock braking system and steering.
- Operate the hazard warning, heated rear window, front and rear fog lamp switches. Do the appropriate signaling devices react to the switching?
- Does the illumination of instruments and switches, as well as the low and high beams, burn when the light is on? Does the buzzer function to warn that the light is not turned off and (or) radio?
- Operate the left lever on the steering column switch. Does the turn signal and high beam indicator light come on? Is the light signal working?
- Operate the right lever on the steering column switch. Is the windshield wiper and washer working?
- Does the horn work?
- Start the engine. At the same time, the battery charge indicator and the low oil pressure indicator should go out.
- While driving, check the operation of the speedometer.
Appliances not working
Low oil pressure warning light does not come on (after engine start): Turn the ignition on, remove the wire from the oil pressure sensor and touch it to bare metal. If after that the signaling device lights up, then the sensor is faulty, and it is necessary to replace it. If the warning light still does not come on, the power cable, the printed conductor in the combined instrument panel, or the warning lamp are faulty.
The fuel gauge does not work: Malfunction of the gauge itself or the sensor in the fuel tank (float stuck). Power may not be supplied. In the electrical part of the fuel gauge, troubleshooting can be done to a limited extent. Remove the sensor cover and check the integrity of the wires that go to the plug and to the sensor itself.
The coolant temperature warning light does not light up: The sensor for this warning light is a double-acting sensor: one pair of contacts is connected to the engine management system and the second to the combined instrument panel. The sensor is located in the cooling system pipe behind the cylinder head. Use a multimeter to measure the resistance of the sensor according to the instructions given in chapter «Cooling system».
