For vehicles equipped with an airbag, this indicator lights up to check operation for approximately ten seconds after the ignition is turned on. If this is not the case, the bulb should be replaced (described at the beginning of the chapter in the section "Disassembly"). When the engine is running, the indicator should go out.
If the indicator light comes on while driving or does not go out after the engine starts, or if it does not light up at all, there is a malfunction.
