Removal
For vehicles manufactured before 2/92: Pull the mirror housing back. Loosen the Allen bolt between the mirror housing and the base.
For cars manufactured before 3/92: Inside the door, carefully press the small bar in the front triangle of the side window. Loosen the screw located underneath it.
Mechanical adjustment of rear-view mirrors: remove the door trim, remove the adjustment button with Bowden cables from the box for built-in door elements.
For all: unscrew the screws on the front window frame with the door open, remove the mirror, and disconnect the plug if necessary.
Replacing a mirror
Mirror glass is held in place by latches only in both electrically and mechanically adjustable mirrors. Removal:
Wear work gloves in case the glass breaks.
Insert a wide spatula or plastic plate under the mirror glass from below and remove it from the latches.
If necessary, repeat the same operation from above.
When installing, insert the glass into the guides and press until it locks into place.
Wearing gloves, press on the center of the glass.
Mirror drive adjustment
The drive cables for the mechanical mirror adjustment can be adjusted so that there is not too much free play on the adjustment wheels. This requires a very small screwdriver.
Remove the longitudinally knurled wheels of the external rear-view mirror adjustment mechanism in an upward direction, using a screwdriver if necessary.
Per drive direction (up/down; right/left) are always answered by two screws located opposite each other. One of them has a left thread, the other has a right thread.
Adjustment: carefully turn screw A1 to the right until a slight resistance is felt.
Turn screw A2 to the left until you feel a slight resistance.
Repeat the same with bolts B1 and B2.
Check the correct installation: the mirror is easily adjusted, but the free play remains minimal.
Tips: If the glass of the outside mirror shakes while driving, it means that the adjustment mechanism is set too loosely - tighten it further.
Mirror adjustment that is too easy means that even slight touches of the sleeve to the longitudinally knurled wheels change the position of the mirrors. In this case, it should be set a little tighter.
