Disassembling the gear shift lever (Audi 100 C3)

Execution order

1. Unscrew handle 8 (see Fig. Gear Shift Control Mechanism (Type II)) gear shift lever.

2. For type II mechanism, remove retaining ring 17 (see Fig. Gear Shift Lever (Type II)) and spring 15 with washer 16 from lever 12.

3. For type I mechanism, remove retaining ring 2 (see fig. (Gear shift control mechanism (Type I)), washer 3 and spring 4 from lever 11.

4. On the type I mechanism, mark the relative positions of bracket 15 and support 21.

5. Unscrew four bolts 14 and remove bracket 15.

6. Remove rubber collar 19 from support 21.

7. Move apart the liners 18 and remove the lever 11, the upper 7 and lower 17 hemispheres with the spring 12.

8. On the mechanism type II, remove ring 11 (see fig. Gear Shift Lever (Type II)).

9. Remove rubber collar 7 from housing 5. Move apart liners 9 and remove upper hemisphere 20, spring 10 and lower hemisphere 8.
