Belt tension adjustment
Models with 5-cylinder engine
1. Loosen the nuts of the pump mounting bolt and the adjusting bar bolt, as well as the tightening of the adjusting bar mounting bolt.
2. Adjust the belt tension by turning the adjusting bolt to one side. With the correct tension, the belt should flex 10mm when you press the top strand of the belt halfway between the pulleys with your thumb.
3. After adjustment, tighten all screw fasteners.
Models with 4-cylinder engine
4. Unscrew the three nuts securing the pulley, remove the outer half of the pulley and the drive belt from the pulley. Remove one of the shims installed between the halves of the pulley, put the belt on the pulley, install the outer half of the pulley and the removed shim on the studs and tighten the fastening nuts.
5. Check belt tension. With the correct tension, the belt should flex 10mm when you press the top strand of the belt halfway between the pulleys with your thumb.
6. If the belt tension is not enough, change the next shim. To loosen the belt tension, the washers must be rearranged in the reverse order.
