Caution: If the belt being removed is to be reused, mark the direction of travel or the front side of the belt before removing it so that the belt can be reinstalled in the same way.
3.0L 1st generation engines (BUG/BUN)
1. The details of installing the fuel injection pump drive belt are shown in the illustration.
8.1. Fuel injection pump drive belt installation details (bUG/BUN engines):
1 - Front belt cover;
2 - Nut, 70 Nm;
3 - Damping weight;
4 - Bolt, 23 Nm;
5 - Fuel injection pump gear;
6 - Tension roller;
7 - Bolt, 9 Nm;

2. Remove the upper engine cover (see Section 19 of Chapter 1).
3. Loosen the clamps (see illustration 4.3), tilt the front belt cover forward and release the retaining tabs on the underside of the cover.
4. Loosen the tension roller bolt by approximately 2 turns (see illustration).

5. Loosen the bolt (1 in the illustration) the drive gear approximately 2 turns, holding it from turning with device No. 3036.

6. Remove the drive gear using puller #3032 (see illustration) and remove it along with the belt.

7. Check the installation position of the tension roller: retaining lug (2 in the illustration) must fit into the slot on the fuel injection pump bracket, the roller itself must be loosened, and the hexagon (1) must be at the bottom.

Tighten the tension roller bolt lightly until the eccentric roller adjuster can still be turned, but without axial displacement. Then install the timing belt and its bolt so that the timing belt can still be turned but without axial displacement.
8. Create a preload on the tension roller by turning it by the hex key counterclockwise to the "1 o'clock" position (see illustration).

Note: Do not rotate the roller to or past the 12 o'clock position.
9. Turn the roller clockwise to the 3 o'clock position and then tighten it slightly again (counterclockwise), to ledge (1 in the illustration) was located exactly opposite the cutout (2).

10. While holding the roller in this position, tighten its bolt (see illustration 8.4).
11. Tighten the bolt (1 in illustration 8.5) drive gear, holding it from turning with device No. 3036.
12. Turn the crankshaft one revolution (see paragraph 73 of Section 4 of Chapter 2) and again make sure that the ledge (1 in illustration 8.9) is located exactly opposite the cutout (2). If necessary, repeat the belt tension adjustment.
3.0L 1st generation engines (CASA/CASB) and 3.0L SCR (SATA, CCMA)
13. The details of installing the fuel injection pump drive belt are shown in the illustration.

14. Remove the upper engine cover (see Section 19 of Chapter 1).
15. Tilt the front belt cover forward (see illustration 17.3 in Chapter 2) and release the retaining tabs on the underside of the lid.
16. Loosen the tension roller bolt by approximately 2 turns (see illustration).

17. Loosen the bolt (1 in illustration 8.5) the drive gear approximately 2 turns, holding it from turning with device No. 3036.
18. Separate the drive gear using the T10320 puller (see illustration), leaving it on the shaft.

Remove the belt from the injection pump sprocket and then from the drive sprocket.
19. Remove the sound insulation under the engine compartment (see Section 19 of Chapter 1) and turn the crankshaft one revolution (see paragraph 73 of Section 4 of Chapter 2) so that the mark on its pulley is positioned as shown on illustrations 29.22 Chapter 2.
20. Remove the air inlet hoses and unscrew the service hole plug on the rear side of the right cylinder head (see illustration).

21. Make sure that the groove is visible through the opened service hole (see illustration) on the camshaft flange.

Use a flashlight for this.

If the groove is not visible, turn the crankshaft one more revolution.
22. Unscrew the service hole plug in the upper section of the oil pan and screw in tool No. 3242 in its place with a force of 20 Nm (see illustration 9.11 in Chapter 2). This device should enter the hole in the crankshaft and lock it. If necessary, turn the crankshaft slightly back and forth.
23. Make sure that the hole in the fuel injection pump gear (arrow in the illustration) is in the 3 o'clock position.

24. Lock the fuel injection pump gear by inserting the T40135 tool (see illustration) all the way.

25. Check the installation position of the tension roller: retaining lug (2 in illustration 8.7) must fit into the slot on the fuel injection pump bracket, the roller itself must be loosened, and the hexagon (1) must be at the bottom.
26. Install the fuel injection pump belt and screw in the bolt (1 in the illustration) tension roller without force so that the eccentric adjuster of the roller can still be turned, but without axial displacement.

Then screw in its bolt (2) of the drive gear so that the gear can still be turned, but without axial displacement.
27. Follow the steps described in paragraphs 8-9.
28. Holding the roller in this position, tighten its bolt (see illustration 8.16)
29. Tighten the bolt (1 in illustration 8.5) drive gear, holding it from turning with device No. 3036.
30. Unscrew tool #3242 and tighten the service hole plug.
31. Turn the crankshaft again one revolution (see paragraph 73 of Section 4 of Chapter 2) and again make sure that the ledge (1 in illustration 8.9) is located exactly opposite the cutout (2). If necessary, repeat the belt tension adjustment.
4.2L BTR Engine
32. The details of installing the fuel injection pump drive belt are shown in the illustration.

33. Remove the upper engine cover (see Section 19 of Chapter 1).
34. Unscrew the bolt (7 in the illustration) on the wiring bracket.

35. Release the fuel injection pump belt cover from the rubber supports on top (see illustration), tilt back and unhook the hook from below.

36. Remove the bolts (1 and 2 in the illustration), release the lock (arrow) and lift up the top cover of the fuel injection pump belt.

37. Unscrew the bolt (see illustration) and remove the tension roller and fuel injection pump belt.

38. Place the belt on the gears. Wrap the drill bit with 4.5 mm electrical tape to prevent cutting yourself. Pull the tension roller with one hand in the direction of the arrow and fix it by inserting the prepared drill. Install the locked tensioner pulley and tighten its bolt by hand.

39. Check the installation position of the roller: retaining tabs (2 in the illustration) on the roller should touch the cast protrusion (1) on the fuel injection pump bracket.

Finally tighten the roller bolt and pull out the drill.
40. Further installation is carried out in reverse order.
4.2L CCFA and CCFC engine
41. The details of installing the fuel injection pump drive belt are shown in the illustration.
8.41. Installation details of the fuel injection pump drive belt for a 4.2 L engine (CCFA and CCFA):
1 - Fuel injection pump belt cover;
2 - Bolt, 9 Nm;
3 - Bolt, to be replaced, 75 Nm then tighten to an angle of 45°;
4 - Fuel injection pump drive belt;
5 - Drive gear (on the camshaft);
6 - Bracket;
7 - Fuel injection pump gear;
8 - Nut, 70 Nm;
9 - Tension roller;
10 - Bolt (M8x70 or M8x75), must be replaced, the threads must not be lubricated; 15 Nm, then tighten to an angle of 180°.
42. Remove the upper engine cover (see Section 19 of Chapter 1).
43. Remove the bolts (arrows in the illustration) and move the bracket (1) with connectors to the side.

44. Remove the connectors from the bracket (1-3 in illustration 35.14 Chapter 2) and take it aside.
45. Remove the bolts (arrows in the illustration) and remove the fuel injection pump belt cover (1).

46. Loosen the tension roller bolt approximately one turn (see illustration). Remove the fuel injection pump belt first from the fuel injection pump gear, and then from the drive gear.
47. Loosen the drive gear bolt, holding it from turning with tools T10172 and T10172/2 (see illustration).

Remove the bolt and screw in a new bolt.
48. Remove the sound insulation panels under the engine compartment (see Section 19 of Chapter 1).
49. Unscrew the service hole plug in the upper section of the oil pan, turn the crankshaft to TDC (see paragraph 55 Section 35 Chapter 2) and screw the locking pin N?3242 into the service hole (see illustration 40.6 Chapter 2) with a force of 20 Nm. If necessary, slightly turn the shaft back and forth so that the locking pin fits evenly into the hole in the crankshaft.
50. Check the installation position of the tension roller. Ledge (4 in the illustration) must fit into the hole (3) in the cylinder head. and the centering element (5) must fit into the slot in the bracket (2).

Screw in the bolt (1) by hand until it stops and put on the fuel injection pump belt.
51. Screw in the bolt (2 in the illustration) tension roller without force so that the roller can still be turned, but without axial movement.

Screw in the drive gear bolt (1) without force until the wheels can still be turned, but without axial movement. Lock the fuel injection pump gear using the T40135 tool.
52. Turn the tension roller with a hex key in the direction of the arrow (see illustration) so that the projection (B) is above the mark (A).

While holding the roller in this position, tighten its bolt (see illustration 39.17 in Chapter 2).
53. Tighten the drive sprocket bolt while holding it from turning (see illustration 8.47).
54. Remove the locking pin from the service hole and tighten the plug. Remove the T40135 tool that locks the fuel injection pump gear.
55. Turn the crankshaft one revolution and make sure that the protrusion (1 in the illustration) is located opposite the mark (2) with a tolerance of ±2 mm.

If necessary, adjust the belt tension again.
56. Further installation is carried out in reverse order.
