Execution order
1. Install the VW210 device. Turn the handle to tighten the spring to 12–13 scale units.

2. Loosen the THBD mounting bolts and, by moving the pump up or down as shown in the figure, set the required belt tension. Tighten the fuel injection pump mounting bolts.
3. Turn the crankshaft one revolution and check the belt tension. If necessary, repeat the tension adjustment.

4. Check that the TDC marks match. Otherwise, check that the high-pressure pump has started to supply fuel. This can only be done at a service station using special equipment.
5. Install cover 33 (see Fig. Diesel engine).
6. If you do not have a belt tensioner at hand, you can temporarily tighten the belt so that it twists no more than 45° between your thumb and forefinger. The belt tension should be checked with a tensioner as soon as possible. Until then, avoid running the engine at high speeds
