Checking the air pressure in the pressure accumulator (Audi 100 C3)

The pressure accumulator is installed only on vehicles with hydraulic brake booster.

With the engine not running, press the brake pedal approximately 20 times.

Remove the hydraulic fluid pressure warning light sensor from the brake booster and connect the pressure gauge hose fitting in its place.

Start the engine and let it idle until the operating pressure in the system reaches 140 kg/cm².

Stop the engine.

Press the brake pedal several times until the pressure gauge needle begins to move smoothly. The pressure value that the pressure gauge shows when the needle suddenly drops after moving smoothly corresponds to the air pressure in the pressure accumulator. If the pressure in the accumulator is less than 30 kg/cm², replace the accumulator.

Disconnect the test pressure gauge, reinstall the hydraulic fluid pressure indicator lamp sensor and bleed the brake hydraulic system to remove air.
