1. Over time, the channels in the radiator and the water channels in the engine can become smaller or even blocked by sediment. When this happens, the coolant will appear rusty and dark and the system must be flushed.
2. Drain the cooling system as described in Chapter 2.
3. Disconnect the top hose from the radiator, insert the water hose into the radiator and let the water run. Run water through it until it runs clear.
4. If the water does not clear, the radiator can be flushed with a cleaner such as Holts Radflush or Holts Speedflush.
5. Insert the hose into the expansion tank and allow water to flow through the supply hose.
6. If heavily soiled, remove the radiator, turn it over and flush with water until it is clean.
7. To flush the engine and heater, insert a water hose into the top hose, run water through the system until it flows clean from the return hose.
