2. From inside the panel, disconnect the wires at the back of the ignition socket.
3. Scrape off the paint from the head of the mounting screw, unscrew the screw, remove the ignition socket.
4. Remove the steering column lock after removing the combination switch as described in Chapter 5.
5. Using a 2.5 mm drill, drill out the bolt in the lock casing, then remove the bolt with an extractor.
6. Loosen the two nuts, remove the top column mounting bolts.
7. Remove the under-panel trim and air pipe system.
8. Pull the column down, remove the lock cover from the column.
9. Using a 3mm drill, drill a hole at the point shown in Fig. 12.8. Press the pin through the hole, remove the lock from the casing.
10. Install the lock by pushing it into the casing up to the spring pin hole.
11. Install the lock case into the column using a new shear bolt. Check the action of the lock before tightening the shear bolt.
12. Further installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal. Install the instrument panel and combination switch as described in Chapters 8 And 5 respectively.
