2. From inside the panel, disconnect the wires at the rear of the ignition socket.
3. Scrape off the paint from the head of the mounting screw, unscrew the screw, and remove the ignition socket.
4. Remove the steering column lock by first removing the combination switch as described in Chapter 5.
5. Use a 2.5mm drill to drill out the bolt in the lock housing, then remove the bolt with an extractor.
6. Unscrew the two nuts and remove the upper column mounting bolts.
7. Remove the under-dash trim and air duct system.
8. Pull the column down and remove the lock casing from the column.
9. Using a 3 mm drill, drill a hole at the point shown in Fig. 12.8. Press the pin through the hole and remove the lock from the casing.

10. Install the lock by pushing it into the casing until it reaches the spring pin hole.
11. Install the lock housing into the column using a new shear bolt. Check the lock operation before tightening the shear bolt.
12. Further installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal. Install the instrument panel and combination switch as described in Chapters 8 and 5 respectively.
