Ignition/Steering Column Lock Mechanism



1. Remove the steering wheel.

2. Remove the cover, unscrew the mounting nuts and remove the combination switch wires.

3. Remove the instrument panel and shelf.

4. Disconnect the connection connector (indicated by the arrow) from the ignition switch and remove the wires from the steering column.



5. Loosen the lock casing mounting bolt.

6. Unscrew the mounting nuts, remove the bolts and remove the column from the mounting bracket. Remove the lock.

7. To replace the lock drum, drill a hole at the point shown in the pictures (left - for Audi 100 models, right - Audi A6) to gain access to the locking latch. Insert the key into the slot of the lock, press the latch and remove the drum.

Ignition switch



Remove the mounting screws and remove the switch from the lock housing.

Installation



Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
