Left: dot «masses» (arrow) for rear window heating and rear window aerial is located on the right C-pillar. In the illustration, the rack is shown with the casing removed.
Right: hidden behind the left C-pillar trim:
1 - antenna connection for receiving SW;
3 - antenna amplifier;
2 - common connection of the rear window heating and the antenna for receiving VHF;
4 - radio control circuit wire;
5 - connecting wire from the heated rear window switch.
Troubleshooting Rear Window Antenna
Remove rear seat back (chapter «Salon»), rear speakers, rear panel, and then remove the trim of both C-pillars.
Check connection for «mass» rear window heating at the right pillar; then check the connection «mass» (frame) antenna amplifier on its mounting bolt.
Carefully check the conductors on the rear window: is it possible to detect a visible break? If so, repair with conductive silver varnish (cm. «Rear window heating») Or replace this glass with a new one.
Now you should do an electrical check; disconnect the plugs on top of the amplifier, measure the voltage at «mass». To do this, turn on the radio.
Presence of voltage: The power supply to the amplifier is OK. No voltage: repair the open circuit.
In the same wire, measure the current between the amplifier connection and the removed wire.
The ammeter should show 30-50 mA, otherwise the antenna amplifier does not receive power and, accordingly, is faulty - replace it.
Next: disconnect the lower rear window heating wire, turn on the ignition and rear window heating, measure the voltage in the wire:
The wire must be under battery voltage, otherwise the wires or the amplifier are faulty. Narrow down your troubleshooting:
Disconnect the lower wire from the amplifier, measure the voltage with the ignition and rear window heating on:
If the device shows battery voltage, then the wires are in order, that is, the amplifier is faulty. Otherwise, the opposite is true.
Speakers in the trim of the door apron
If the speakers were installed at the factory, they are located in the front door trim.
Remove door trim.
Mid-range speakers: Detach the speaker at the bottom of the casing.
Loosen the three speaker fixing screws and disconnect the wire.
Treble loudspeakers: Unscrew the cross slots on the back of the loudspeaker, disconnect the cable.
Removing the rear speakers
In the Audi-100, there are loudspeakers in the rear panel at the top right and left.
On the luggage compartment side, loosen the three Phillips screws under the panel.
Remove the speakers from the panel into the passenger compartment, disconnect the wires.
