Headlight washer system (Audi 100 C4)

On vehicles with the appropriate equipment, the headlamp washing system directs two jets of water to the lenses if the windscreen washing system is activated with the low or high beam on. The washing process is controlled by a relay in the central switch (see "Body electrical system"). A separate pump is located, like the windshield washer pump, at the bottom of the receiver. Antifreeze and washing liquids should be added to the headlight washer system in the same quantity as to the windshield washer system.

It goes without saying that the water jets of the headlight washer system must hit the headlights at the right place on the diffuser. If their washing effect is clearly unsatisfactory, the flow should be adjusted with the VAG 3010 A tool. If the washer telescope is out of order, it can be replaced. The same applies to nozzles with a pressure valve (removal, see next paragraph).

Removal the headlight washer system telescope

Remove the protective covering manually.

Remove the telescope manually and remove the nozzle as well, rotating it slightly.

Remove the headlight.

Disconnect the supply hose.

Unscrew the nut at the front and loosen the screw at the back.

Remove the hose and pull out the telescope.
