Troubleshooting
If the heated rear window remains cold, the following problems may be the cause:
Faulty fuse.
Faulty switch. It should be removed (in the manner described in this chapter) and check with a test lamp whether current flows through the white wire when the ignition is on and the switch is pressed.
Remove both A-pillar trims next to the rear window.
Check the wiring to the rear window: check with a test light whether the power comes back through the white connecting wire to the glass on the left. (Proceed in the same way for models equipped with a rear window antenna.)
Check on the right pillar whether the contact is in order on «mass» glass heating filaments.
If the heating filaments are damaged and thus the electrical circuit is interrupted, a silver conductive lacquer can be used. It is produced, for example, by Doduco, and can be purchased at an auto parts store.
