There are several unmistakable signs that your shock absorbers are failing:
The steering shakes because the wheels no longer have constant contact with the road surface.
When driving over uneven surfaces, the body oscillates.
the car's "scattering" behavior when cornering, with the inner wheels not being pressed hard enough to the ground during cornering, and the outer wheels not being relieved of enough load.
Bouncing wheels; naturally, only an outside observer riding next to you or behind you can notice this.
A multiple interrupted brake trace under full braking, caused by bouncing wheels (in cars with ABS this manifestation is suppressed by adjusting the ABS).
Uneven tire wear and increased tire wear.
Significant traces of oil on the outside of the shock absorbers and under the spring plate of the shock absorber strut. Minor traces of oil, on the contrary, are normal.
