Inner constant velocity joint (CV joint) (Audi 100 C3)

• 1, 10 - retaining ring;
• 2 - inner CV joint;
• 3 - case holder;
• 4 - sealing gasket;
• 5 - clamp;
• 6, 11 - mudguards;
• 7 - half shaft;
• 8 - clamp;
• 9 - outer CV joint;
• 12 - disc washer

Removal

1. Remove the axle shaft from the vehicle (see subsection 7.5).

2. Remove clamp 5 and move mudguard 6.

3. Remove sealing gasket 4 and retaining ring 1.

4. Knock the cover holder 3 off the hinge housing using a copper punch.

5. Press the inner CV joint off the axle shaft, applying force to the joint cage.

6. Remove the cover holder 3 and the dirt-protective cover 6 from the shaft.

Installation

1. Remove old lubricant.

2. Place 90 g of consistent grease type "G6" or domestic SHRUS-4 grease into the joint.

3. Install a disc washer 12 on the axle shaft (if it is included in the package).

4. Press the assembled joint onto the shaft until it stops.

5. Install retaining ring 1.

6. Install the cover holder 3 on the outer housing of the hinge.

7. Place the dirt-protective cover 6 on the cover holder 3.

8. Install a new clamp 5 and tighten its lock.

9. Install sealing gasket 4.



10. Install the axle shaft on the vehicle.
