Checking and adjusting the idle speed (Audi 100 C3)

The diesel engine does not have an ignition system, so a special tachometer is needed for testing, which is connected to the W terminal of the generator.

The rotation speed can also be measured using the VAG 1367 ignition tester, using the TDC sensor on the drive pulley.

Execution order

1. Warm up the engine. The oil temperature should not be below +60°C.

2. Connect the control tachometer in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.

3. Turn off all electrical consumers (light, radio, etc.).



4. Check the idle speed on the tachometer. For CN and DE engines, it should be (750±50) min⁻¹. If necessary, adjust the idle speed by turning the adjusting screw (1), after loosening the lock nut (2).





5. For NC and 3D model engines, the idle speed should be (830±30) min⁻¹ and (840±30) min⁻¹ respectively. If necessary, adjust the idle speed with the adjusting screw (2), after loosening the lock nut (1).
