Steering Maintenance (After August 1985) (Audi 100 C3)

Once a year it is necessary:

1. Check the clearances in the steering rod joints.

2. Check the condition of the protective covers of the steering rod joints. If the covers have cracks, tears, etc., they must be replaced.

3. Check for play in the steering mechanism and adjust the mechanism if necessary.

4. Check the fastening of the steering gear to the body and tighten the fastening bolts if necessary.

5. Check the tightness of the steering gear. If there are signs of grease leakage, replace the seals.

6. For power steering, check the fluid level in the reservoir and top up to normal if necessary.
