Warning: When replacing the shock absorber, the vehicle must be on its wheels.
Removal
1. Remove the decorative cap that covers access to the upper shock absorber mounting nut.
2. Loosen the upper shock absorber mounting nut while holding the shock absorber rod from turning using a hex key.
3. Mark the position of the washers on the upper support of the strut, tracing their outline, to maintain the camber angle of the front wheels.
4. Loosen the mounting nuts and remove the upper support of the rack.
5. By turning the steering wheel, center the shock absorber rod relative to the base of the upper support.
6. Remove the washer and compression buffer from the shock absorber rod.
7. Compress the protective cover through the spring coils and remove the protective cap.
8. Using a special tool, unscrew the lower shock absorber mounting nut (at service stations, the 2069 device is used).
9. Remove the shock absorber upwards.
Installation
1. Install the shock absorber in reverse order.
2. At the same time, tuck the upper edge of the protective cover into the spring gasket, pressing it against the protective ring.
3. Replace the upper shock absorber mounting nut with a new one and tighten it to a torque of 60 N·m (6.0 kgf·m), while holding the shock absorber rod from turning using a hex key.
