Front wheel drive vehicles
Withdrawal
1. Mark with paint the position of the corresponding rear wheel relative to the hub. This will allow the assembly to install the balanced wheel in its original position. Loosen the wheel bolts with the vehicle on the ground. Raise the rear of the car, put it on stands and remove the rear wheel.
2. Support the rear wheel with a garage lift at the side where the wheel is removed. Do not raise the rear suspension. The illustration shows a VAG lift
3. If it is necessary to remove only the spring, unscrew the bolt - 2 - securing the shock absorber to the beam. Fully unload the spring and remove it. To do this, lower the lift. If necessary, ask an assistant to pull the suspension down.
4. If it is also necessary to remove the shock absorber, unscrew the mounting bolts -1- of the shock absorber from the body and remove.
Installation
1. Install the spring so that the beginning of the spring (arrow illustration) adjoined to the stop of the upper support ring. The upper support ring must sit correctly in the body.
2. The beginning of the coil of the spring at the bottom must necessarily show towards the center of the car.
3. Insert the shock absorber and fix it at the bottom with a new bolt and a new nut with a torque of 55 Nm.
4. Fasten the shock absorber to the body with new bolts to a torque of 75 Nm.
