Front wheel drive cars
Removal
1. Mark the position of the corresponding rear wheel relative to the hub with paint. This will allow the balanced wheel to be installed in its original position during assembly. Loosen the wheel mounting bolts with the car on the ground. Raise the rear of the car, place it on stands and remove the rear wheel.

2. Place a garage lift on the side of the rear wheel to support it where the wheel is being removed. Do not lift the rear suspension. The illustration shows a VAG lift.
3. If you only need to remove the spring, unscrew the bolt – 2– securing the shock absorber to the beam. Completely unload the spring and remove it. To do this, lower the lift. If necessary, ask an assistant to pull the suspension down.
4. If it is also necessary to remove the shock absorber, unscrew the bolts –1– securing the shock absorber to the body and remove it.
Installation

1. Install the spring so that the beginning of the spring (arrow on the illustration) fits against the stop of the upper support ring. The upper support ring must sit correctly in the body.
2. The beginning of the spring coil at the bottom must necessarily point towards the center of the car.
3. Insert the shock absorber and secure it at the bottom with a new bolt and a new nut to a torque of 55 Nm.
4. Secure the shock absorber to the body with new bolts to a torque of 75 Nm.
