Front wheel drive vehicles
Withdrawal
Unscrew the bolts of the upper mounting of the shock absorber to the car body (see fig. 8.6). To improve access to the shock absorber mounting bolts, you can slightly raise the car, but the car must be on wheels.
Unload the rear suspension springs, for which raise the rear of the car so that the wheel is 10 cm above the ground. Remove the rear spring from the supports and remove it from under the car. If necessary, the assistant should move the rear suspension beam down.
Unscrew the nut and remove the shock absorber lower mounting bolt. Moving up, remove the lower part of the rear shock absorber from the rear beam and remove it (see fig. 8.7).
Installation
Install the shock absorber in place, screw the shock absorber upper mounting bolts to the car body and tighten them to a torque of 45 Nm.
Install the spring in such a way that the extreme coils of the spring, after installation, are located on the supports in the manner shown in fig. 8.3. If necessary, the assistant should move the rear suspension beam down.
Insert the shock absorber lower mounting bolt and screw the nut onto it, without completely tightening it.
Lower the car. Tighten the bolt and nut of the lower mounting of the rear shock absorber to 50 Nm and then tighten by 90°.
