The gearbox is removed from underneath the vehicle. The vehicle must be placed on a lift.
Removal
Place the car on a lift.
Disconnect the wire from the negative terminal of the battery.
Remove the upper gearbox mounting bolts from the cylinder block
Disconnect the speedometer drive flexible shaft from the gearbox.
Loosen the tension on the clutch cable and disconnect it from the lever on the gearbox.
Disconnect the exhaust pipe and its mounting brackets.
Disconnect the front wheel drive shafts from the differential output shaft flanges.
Disconnect the electrical wires from the gearbox.
Remove the lower protective cover of the clutch housing.
Remove the starter.
Disconnect the tie rod joint from the gear shift lever
After disconnecting the ball head, remove the gear shift lever.
Place the gearbox on a jack or stand.
Remove the lower bolts securing the gearbox to the engine.
Separate the gearbox from the engine.
Remove the gearbox.
Installation
Before installing the gearbox, make sure the clutch disc is properly centered, the engine backplate is in the correct position, and apply a thin layer of grease to the gearbox input shaft splines.
Put the gearbox back in place.
Install the lower transmission-to-engine mounting bolts and the transmission bracket-to-front subframe mounting bolts.
Install the shift linkage and shift fork lever without tightening the fasteners.
Install the lower clutch housing cover.
Install the wheel drives onto the differential output shaft flanges and tighten the mounting bolts to the specified torque.
Install the exhaust pipe, placing a new gasket between the flanges.
Lower the lift.
Connect the clutch cable to the clutch release fork lever.
Attach the speedometer drive flexible shaft.
Install the upper transmission-to-engine mounting bolts.
Tighten the transmission mount bracket fasteners to the body.
Adjust the gear shift drive.
Connect the wire to the negative terminal of the battery.
Adjust the clutch pedal free play.
