Remove the cap, cotter pin and toothed stop.
Adjust the clearance in the hub bearings by firmly tightening the hub hex nut while rotating the brake drum or disc.

Loosen the hex nut slightly so that you can use a screwdriver to simply press the washer in with your finger without applying significant force.
If the nut slot does not match the cotter pin hole, tighten the nut to the nearest cotter pin hole.
Secure the hub nut with a cotter pin.
Install the hub cap.
Put the wheel back in place.
