Engage 1st gear.
Move the gear shift lever all the way to the left.
Release the lever, measuring the amount of its movement, which should be within 5-10 mm. Adjusting the gear shift drive
Working from underneath the vehicle, loosen the shift rod fork.
Remove the gear shift knob and protective cover.
Remove the gear shift lever ball cap and align the timing marks.
Install the VW 3014 adjustment template.
Pull the gearshift lever and drive slide forward as far as it will go and tighten the clamping sleeve.
Move the gear shift lever to the 3rd gear line and tighten the gear shift rod fork bolt nut, acting from underneath the vehicle.
Remove the adjustment template and check the amount of movement of the gearshift lever as described above. If it is slightly different from the nominal, adjust the adjustment by moving the cap of the spherical head of the gearshift lever in the oval slots for the mounting bolts.
