Cylinder Block — Technical Specifications (Audi 100 C3)

The cylinder block is sleeveless and cast iron. The lower part of the cylinder block has five supports for the crankshaft main bearing shells. The main bearing caps are finally machined together with the block and therefore are not interchangeable.

Clearance between piston and cylinder for new parts, mm: 0.03. Maximum allowable clearance (when worn out), mm: 0.08.

Cylinder diameters, mm:

• nominal: 81.01;
• 1st repair size - 81.26;
• 2nd repair size 81.51;
• 3rd repair size: 82.01.

The cylinder diameter is measured with a bore gauge in three zones in mutually perpendicular directions at a distance of 10 mm from the upper and lower edges and in the middle.
