Technical characteristics of the cylinder block (Audi 80 B2)

The cylinder block is sleeveless and made of cast iron. The lower part of the cylinder block has five supports for the crankshaft main bearing shells. The main bearing caps are finally machined together with the block and therefore are not interchangeable.

Piston and cylinder dimensions

Clearance between piston and cylinder for new parts, mm: 0.03.

Maximum permissible ovality of cylinder mirrors, no more than, mm: 0.04.

The cylinder diameter is measured with a bore gauge in three zones, both longitudinally and transversely, at a distance of 10 mm from the upper and lower ends of the cylinder and at half its height.
