Disassembly and assembly of the telescopic strut is performed to replace the shock absorber or suspension spring.

Disassembly

Remove the telescopic stand as described above.

Install the suspension strut in a spring compressor, best to use the VAG 1403.

Compress the strut spring to relieve tension from the strut support plate.

Loosen the nut on the shock absorber rod.

Mark the position of the upper strut mount to maintain the front camber angle, then remove the upper mount.

Screw the 2070/1 tool onto the shock absorber rod until it stops.

Screw the support dummy of the 2070/1 device and the upper support plate onto the shock absorber rod.

Tighten the hex nut of the fixture until it stops.

Remove the spring compressor.

Unload the spring by unscrewing the hex nut of the device while holding the device by the handle.

Remove tool 2070/1.

Remove the upper mount plate, mount bearing, compression stroke limiter, protective ring, spring cup, spring and protective boot.

Remove the washer, compression buffer, and round nut protective cap.

Unscrew the round nut.

Assembly

Assemble the telescopic strut in the reverse order of disassembly, observing the tightening torques of the threaded connections. Replace the shock absorber rod nut and the upper support nuts of the telescopic strut.

Note: To compensate for possible deviations in the height of the right and left front suspension struts, three spring cups of the following height are supplied as spare parts: cup with one protrusion: 19 mm; double lip cup: 15mm; tri-Lens Cup: 9mm.
