Constantly checking
Although the indicator on the dashboard will warn you about the low brake fluid level in the Audi-100, you still cannot refuse visual inspection:
Open the hood and, if necessary, clean the brake fluid reservoir with a rag.
In the transparent tank, the brake fluid level should be between the "min" and "max" marks. In this case, everything is fine.
Fluid level too low?
If the brake disc pads are already slightly worn, the fluid level is most likely near the lower mark; if they are new, then most likely it will be located higher. This is completely normal, because the pistons of the disc brake mechanism, protruding a little further with worn linings, leave a larger volume in the caliper cylinders, which is filled with brake fluid.
The critical moment occurs when the brake fluid level in the reservoir drops below the minimum mark. Since the brake fluid does not evaporate or get consumed, this means that there is a leak somewhere in the system. Therefore, it is necessary to urgently look for the cause and location of the leak, without waiting until the brake pedal goes into the void. Simply adding fluid to the reservoir is self-deception!
