Checking the brake fluid level (Audi 80 B3)

The brake fluid reservoir is located in the engine compartment. It has two chambers, each for one circuit. There is a ventilation hole on the screw plug, which must not be closed.

The tank is transparent, which provides visual control of the liquid level.

The liquid level with the lid closed should not be above the MAX mark or below the MIN mark.

Use only FMVSS 116 DOT 4 specification fluid.



Due to disc brake wear, the fluid level drops. This is normal.

If, on the contrary, the level has dropped significantly over a short period of time, this is a sign of fluid loss.

You should immediately find the leaking points. As a rule, these are worn out cuffs of the wheel brake cylinders.
