Caution: Do not expose the battery to naked flames. Explosion hazard.
The electrolyte level must be between the min and max marks -arrow-.
If the position of the electrolyte level is not visible from the outside, unscrew the cap of one of the jars. The liquid level must be 6 mm above the plates, including the separator. If there are level marks, you should be guided by them.
The density of the electrolyte, together with the measurement of voltage, allows us to draw a conclusion about the degree of charge of the battery. A hydrometer is used to check. The greater the density of the electrolyte, the higher the float floats. On the scale, readings can be read in units of density (g/ml) or degrees Baume (+ Be). The following values must be achieved:
Cleaning the battery poles
When regularly inspecting the vehicle, clean the battery poles and connecting terminals and coat them with anti-oxidant grease.
Battery conservation
An unused battery will discharge over time. If the vehicle is not used for a long time, the following measures should be taken.
Check the charge level of the battery, charge it if necessary.
Disconnect the battery ground cable so that it is not discharged by permanent consumers, such as clocks.
Recharge the battery every three months.
Attention: Check the state of charge of the battery at shorter intervals depending on its age. Do not leave the battery in a discharged state, otherwise the plates will be sulfated.
