MOT No. 25
The protective layer on the bottom of the car should be carefully checked and, if necessary, renewed. You can do this yourself if you have the ability to securely lift and fix the car (flyover or lift).
Thoroughly wash the bottom of the body.
Illuminate the entire bottom with a bright lamp and examine the damaged areas.
Clean damaged areas in the anti-corrosion protection with a scraper, trowel and wire brush down to bare metal.
Remove incipient corrosion, if any.
Apply zinc spray paint to the cleaned surface as an anti-corrosion primer.
Smooth or large surfaces are treated with mastic, which can be applied with a brush.
For hard-to-reach seams and corners, it is better to use a can containing anti-corrosion protection.
Important: bituminous anti-corrosion protection on the bottom of the car can only be treated with bituminous material, polymer anti-corrosion protection in wheel arches can only be treated with PVC protection.
Hint: Only certain materials can be used for underbody corrosion protection. Incorrectly chosen products are aggressive towards serial anticorrosive. When applying anticorrosive, it is necessary to cover the brakes with paper or plastic wrap to protect against water droplets.
