Remove the gear shift knob and protective cover.
Remove the gear shift lever ball cap and align the timing marks.
Install the VW 3057 adjustment template.
Pull the gearshift lever and drive slider forward as far as it will go. Move the gearshift lever and drive slider to the right as far as it will go (via the V transmission line).
Adjusting the gear shift lever
Move the gearshift lever to the III gear line. Move the gearshift lever to the left to the III and IV gear line and tighten the gearshift rod fork bolt nut, acting from underneath the vehicle.
Remove the adjustment template and check the amount of movement of the gearshift lever as described above. If it is slightly different from the nominal, adjust the adjustment by moving the cap of the spherical head of the gearshift lever in the oval slots for the mounting bolts.
