2. Pull the cover (1) first in the direction of arrow (A) and then remove it in the direction of arrow (B).

Warning: For vehicles with the air conditioning control panel located above the ashtray, the remote control must first be pulled out slightly.
3. Loosen the mounting bolts (C) and remove the ashtray (2) from the center console.
4. Remove the damping washer (1) and noise damper (2) upwards.

5. Unscrew the cover mounting bolts (arrows in the accompanying illustration).

6. Measure the distance (a) between the two threaded pins in the shift actuator.

Warning: Measure between the centers of your fingers.
7. The distance should be a = 85 mm. If the obtained value differs from the specified one, adjust the distance (a) as follows: Loosen the screw (arrow) securing the push rod. The push rod should move easily in both directions at the rear in the shift drive on the slider.
8. Adjust the dimension (a) by moving the push rod from the rear. Tighten the push rod mounting bolt to a torque of 25 Nm.
9. Loosen the bolt (arrow on the accompanying illustration) in the shift drive. The push rod/shift drive connection should move easily.

10. Install the shift lever: The lever should be centered at the bottom in the ball joint. The distance from the ball joint to the shift lever at the bottom should be the same on all sides.

11. Set the lever vertically in the direction of travel and hold it in this position.
12. Tighten the shift rod mounting bolt to the torque 25Nm.

13. Tighten the noise protection cover mounting bolts to the torque 10Nm. Observe the installation position: The arrow on the cover points in the "forward" direction.

14. Power button with locking mechanism: Install the button together with the shift lever cover onto the lever and turn the connecting element until it stops.
15. Power button with clamp: Install the power button with a new clamp on the shift lever and squeeze the clamp with pliers.
16. If necessary, install the air conditioning control unit and ashtray.
