Windshield Washer System — Removal, Installation and Adjustment (Audi 100 C3)

1. The windshield washer reservoir is located in the front right side of the engine compartment on European models and in the rear of the engine compartment on North American models. The washer pump is attached to the reservoir on all models except European models with headlamp washers, where it is located separately. On European models with headlamp washers, the reservoir serves both systems, and the reservoir pump serves the headlamp system.

2. To remove the tank, lift it from the suspension or remove the mounting screws (photo).



3. The pump is simply inserted into the tank and can be removed by gently pulling it out of position. The pump is a non-disassemblable unit and cannot be repaired.

4. If the washer jets need cleaning, do not use a needle or piece of wire because you may damage the hole. Jets can be cleaned without damage with a brush or a piece of nylon thread.

5. Adjust the jets using the diagram shown in Fig. 12.23.
