The first 1500 kilometers are the engine break-in period.
For the first 1000 km run
- Speed no more than 3/4 of maximum.
- Do not press the accelerator pedal all the way down.
- Avoid high engine speeds.
- Do not tow a trailer.
In the period from 1000 to 1500 kilometers
- It is possible to gradually transition to speeds up to maximum and to maximum engine speed.
During the first hours of operation, the engine is characterized by increased internal friction, if compared with the subsequent period, when the rubbing parts are running in to each other. The efficiency of the running-in process largely depends on the driving mode during the first 1,500 km of run.
After running-in, the engine should not be operated at high speeds. The maximum permissible engine shaft speed is the beginning of the red field of the tachometer scale. When the tachometer needle reaches the red field, immediately shift to a higher gear (manual transmission car). Extremely high engine speeds are blocked automatically.
On cars with a manual gearbox, do not allow the engine speed to drop with the transition to an unstable operating mode. In time, before the uniformity of the engine shaft rotation is disrupted, switch to a lower gear.
Warning: All information about the speed and speed of the motor shaft applies only to the engine that is warmed up to operating temperature. Never allow the cold engine to run at high speeds, either at idle or while driving.
New tires
- Be especially careful during the first 500 km of driving with new tires.
New tyres do not initially provide optimal road grip and therefore need to be run in.
New brake pads
- Remember that new brake pads do not yet provide optimal braking performance for the first 400 km.
New brake pads must first be run in to ensure optimum friction force. The associated slight reduction in braking efficiency is compensated by a corresponding increase in brake pedal force.
During the running-in period, avoid heavy braking, especially at very high speeds, as well as braking on steep ascents and descents (for example, passes).
