Table of contents: The first 1000 km ↓ From 1000 to 1500 km ↓ After running-in ↓ During the break-in period and beyond ↓
During the first hours of operation, the engine is characterized by increased internal friction, if compared with the subsequent period, when the rubbing parts are running in to each other. The efficiency of the running-in process largely depends on the driving mode during the first 1,500 km of run.
The first 1000 km
- do not press the accelerator pedal all the way down
- do not drive faster than 3/4 of the maximum speed
- avoid high engine speeds
- if possible, do not tow a trailer
From 1000 to 1500 km
It is possible to gradually transition to speeds up to maximum and to maximum engine speed.
After running-in
To save fuel, shift into a higher gear as early as possible. Shift into a higher gear no later than when the tachometer needle begins to enter the red field.
Extremely high engine speeds are blocked automatically.
During the break-in period and beyond
Never, either at idle or while driving, allow a cold engine to operate at high speeds.
All speed and RPM data given in the Specifications apply only to an engine warmed up to operating temperature!
Do not allow the engine speed to drop when it switches to an unstable operating mode. Shift to a lower gear in time, before the crankshaft rotation uniformity is disrupted.
