Opening the hood



Opening the hood


To unlock the hood, pull the handle located on the left side under the instrument panel. The hood will be pushed out of the lock by the force of the spring. At the same time, the release tab will move out through the radiator grille, refer to the illustration.

Warning: Before opening the bonnet, make sure the wiper blades are on the windscreen. Otherwise, they may damage the paintwork.

To open the hood, pull the release tab in the direction of the arrow and lift the hood until it is pushed upward by the spring.

Closing the hood



To close, lower the hood down until the spring force is completely overcome, then slam it shut until it clicks into place.



Warning: The engine hood must be securely closed while driving. Therefore, always check that the hood is locked after closing it. When properly locked, the hood is flush with the mating body components.


If, while driving, you notice that the hood latch is not latched, stop and close the hood.

Underhood space



Warning: When working in the engine compartment, exercise extreme caution!


Warning: Stop the engine and remove the ignition key.


Warning: Apply the handbrake securely.


Warning: Place the gear shift lever in neutral/"P" position.


Warning: Allow the engine to cool.


Warning: While the engine is at operating temperature:

  • do not place your hands under the cooling fan, it may suddenly turn on;
  • do not open the radiator cap, the cooling system is under pressure.

Warning: Beware of short circuits in the electrical system, especially in the battery.


Warning: Whenever it is necessary to perform checks on a running engine, be aware of the additional hazards posed by rotating parts (for example, V-belt, generator, cooling fan, etc.), as well as from high voltage circuits of the ignition system.


Warning: Follow generally accepted safety precautions and heed the warnings contained in this manual.


To avoid serious functional problems, be careful not to mix up operating fluids when refilling or different systems.
