Standard Shift Models
1. Apply the handbrake, raise the front of the vehicle and install the jack stands. Turn on neutral.
2. Remove the heat shields from the underbody to gain access to the shift lever. To improve access, remove the exhaust pipe and the catalytic converter as described in chapter 4B.
3. Loosen the tie bolt of the shift rod clamp to the adjusting yoke at the bottom of the shift lever (pic. 2.3). Do not turn out the bolt.
4. Working inside the car, unscrew the knob on top of the gear lever, unfasten and remove the cover.
5. Remove the noise insulation around the lever housing.
6. Make sure that the pivot housing is installed horizontally. Adjust as necessary by loosening the two nuts, moving the housing and tightening the nuts.
7 Ask an assistant to hold the lever vertically so that the distance between the stops of the knurled hinge is the same on both sides with the lever slightly tilted back. In this position, the lever is in the middle position between third and fourth gear (pic. 2.7, a, b).
8. Make sure the shift rod is in the neutral position and tighten the adjusting bolt under the vehicle.
9. Check up ease of switching of all transfers.
10. Install lower heat shields, downpipe muffler and catalytic converter (if filmed).
11. Install soundproofing, cover and knob. Lower the car.
Short shift models
12. Operating in the cabin, unscrew and remove the knob from the shift lever ("joystick"), unfasten and remove the cover.
13. Remove the noise insulation at the bottom of the case "joystick".
14. Measure the distance between the stem and the body (pic. 2.14). If it is not 37mm, loosen the linkage bolt, move it and tighten the bolt.
15. Through the hole in the floor, loosen the bolt of the clamp connecting the stem to the adjusting fork on the lever ("joystick"). Do not completely unscrew the bolt.
16. Make sure the body hinge is level. If it doesn't leak, loosen the two nuts, adjust the body position and tighten the nuts.
17. Ask an assistant to hold the lever vertically so that the distance between the stops of the corrugated hinge is the same on both sides with the lever slightly tilted back. In this position, the lever is in the middle position between third and fourth gear.
18. First make sure the shift rod is in the neutral position, then tighten the adjusting bolt.
19. Install soundproofing, cover and knob. Lower the car.
