1. The catalytic converter is a simple and reliable device that does not require maintenance. However, the owner needs to pay attention to some points in order not to shorten the life of the converter.
Petrol models
a) DO NOT use leaded gasoline in vehicles equipped with a catalytic converter - the lead coats the rare earth metals, causing the converter to fail.
b) Maintain the injection and ignition system in good condition, in accordance with the maintenance schedule prescribed by the manufacturer.
c) If the engine has misfires, do not operate the vehicle (or reduce this operation to a minimum) - until the malfunction is eliminated.
d) DO NOT start the engine while being towed - unburned fuel will wet the neutralizer, and after starting the catalytic converter may overheat.
d) DO NOT turn off the ignition at high engine speeds.
e) The catalytic converter on a properly functioning vehicle lasts up to 150,000 km - if it has lost its effectiveness, replace it.
Diesel models
g) Do not use any additives - they can damage the neutralizer.
h) Remember that the catalytic converter operates at high temperatures. DO NOT park the vehicle on dry grass or leaves after a long drive.
i) Remember that the neutralizer is FRAGILE - when working under the car, do not hit it with a tool or drop it.
