Remove the protective cover.
Press the wheel hub out of the steering knuckle using a VW295a support ring mandrel.
If necessary, press out the inner race of the ball bearing using a hook puller and a VW295a support ring.
To remove the outer bearing race from the steering knuckle, first remove both retaining rings, then press out the outer bearing race using a mandrel and support ring VW442.
Assemble the hub in the reverse order of disassembly, taking into account the following:
- put the retaining rings in place and press the outer bearing ring until it stops;
- press the wheel hub using a mandrel and a VW455 support ring. When pressing, the support ring must only fit against the end face of the inner bearing ring.
Put the telescopic stand back in place.
